Woopsie and Poopsie (Russian: Вупсень и Пупсень, Woopsen i Poopsen / Vupsen and Pupsen) are one of the main characters in the animated series. They are two mischievous caterpillar brothers who love to play all sorts of pranks on others. However, from Season 6 onwards, they gradually become kinder (probably because of Moonzy). In the latest episodes they still behave like hooligans, but much less often, and are friends with Moonzy, Moona, and others.
In the demo English dub of the series, their names were Pillar and Paller.
Appearance[]
Woopsie and Poopsie are both almost identical because they are brothers. However, viewers can differentiate each of them by not only their name, but also their appearance and features.
Woopsie and Poopsie have a green back, a light green head and a yellow belly. Both of them have six short legs and are wearing red slippers, with Woopsie’s bare foot only seen in the ”Pretenders” episode, and the bare feet of all caterpillars in the “Two Toads” episode, where they have four toes which bear a strong resemblance to a human heel. Caterpillars have green antennae on their heads and green circles on their sides. In episodes using new 3D animation technologies, Woopsie and Poopsie have spots on their tails and backs.
Both caterpillars wear aprons. Poopsie's apron has two burgundy berries, while Woopsie has one blue. Most likely, the first one has cherries, the second one has blueberries. Poopsie wears a red baseball cap, and Woopsie wears a red bandana. Poopsie has a thicker voice than Woopsie, who has a rougher voice than the former.
In winter, the caterpillars also wear red headphones, a scarf with buttons, and green and yellow mittens. In the episode The Christmas Tree, their winter appearance changed a lot: they began to wear hats, scarves, gloves and striped sweaters. Woopsie has a blue sweater and a red hat, scarf and gloves, and he has a plum and larger stripes painted on his sweater; Poopsie's is the opposite and has cherries and small stripes painted on his sweater.
Character[]
Caterpillars (especially Woopsie) are usually seen doing bad deeds, invariably for which they ultimately have to confess. They are often not averse to playing a prank on someone just for fun or for gain, usually in the form of sweets. But every joke they play can backfire in the end. Usually greedy, rude, unorganized, and lazy, Woopsie and Poopsie are also truants. Previously, they didn’t know polite words at all, but in the episode “Ignoramuses”, Moonzy and his friends taught them to speak politely.
Although they are twin brothers, they are noticeably different from each other. Woopsie is the ringleader and instigator, who is the author and initiator of most of the pranks, and Poopsie is the follower in their pair and often it is he who gets it for the pranks and jokes that his brother came up with. Although without Woopsie it is much more difficult for Poopsie to figure out what to do. In the first episodes, it is sometimes noticeable that Poopsie wants to become kinder and spend more time with the guys (for example, at the end of the episodes “Ball” and “Seed”), but then this desire disappeared. In the latest episodes, the caterpillars are less likely to misbehave and commit pranks, but they are still often not averse to having fun or coming up with a new activity.
Biography[]
Woopsie and Poopsie are twin brothers, born on the same day, but Woopsie before Poopsie. Therefore, Woopsie sometimes used his seniority to guide his brother in undertakings. They loved to scare butterflies and play dirty tricks. But gradually the caterpillars became kinder, and in the last episodes they no longer bully and even become friends with Moonzy and his friends.
Their main and biggest dream is to become butterflies. Unfortunately, Woopsie and Poopsie skipped school, which is why they remained caterpillars. Sometimes they try to become butterflies, but they both invariably fail to.
Relationships[]
Each other[]
The main one in the duet of caterpillars is Woopsie, who comes up with various ideas but are not always successful. Woopsie was born before Poopsie, which he willingly takes advantage of, influencing his brother. This often only makes things worse for Poopsie. But Poopsie does not want to leave Woopsie, because, although he can be an adventurer, he helps Woopsie when necessary. They sometimes quarrel, but always make up later. In some episodes, Woopsie shows concern for Poopsie, and, like an older brother, protects him.
Moonzy[]
The caterpillars often deceive Moonzy by taking advantage of his kindness. However, Moonzy still always forgives them and does not hold a grudge against them.
Skip[]
Skip doesn't trust Woopsie and Poopsie, and always knows when they're up to something evil and treacherous.
Dottie[]
Woopsie and Poopsie often break Dottie's sand cakes. She, like Skip, always suspects them when something bad has happened, although sometimes the caterpillars are not to blame and they are blamed for nothing.
Weebee[]
Weebee and the caterpillars have a bad relationship. The caterpillars often plot against him, for example by stealing a rare mineral or taking away a model of Pluto.
Mr Diggins[]
The caterpillars plot against Mr. Diggins in many episodes, but everything ends well eventually. In the newer episodes, they may have already managed to resolve all their conflicts, since the caterpillars have become kinder and almost do not offend anyone.
Mr Webber[]
They have almost the same relationship with Mr. Webber as they have with Mr. Diggins. They often conflict, but everything ends well.
Granny Annie and Grandpa Stringer[]
Sometimes the caterpillars plot against Moonzy's grandparents, but everything ends well, and the caterpillars learn their lesson.
Giles Gudgeon and Mrs Leech[]
Little is known about their relationship with underwater inhabitants, as they met only in some episodes. In one episode, where the caterpillars decided to live underwater in a pond, they initially interfered with everyone, but everything ended well, and most likely they have a good relationship with the inhabitants of the pond.
Ellie and other Butterflies[]
Poopsie, like his brother, wants to become a butterfly, but they cannot do it, and perhaps because of this they are jealous of other butterflies.
Margo[]
In one episode, Margo and Poopsie were friends, but when at the end of the episode Margo threw a tomato at Poopsie and laughed, most likely, he stopped being friends with her.
Moona[]
She is the most friendly with Woopsie and Poopsie, because she is interested in them and has a similar character.
